Working at MasterControl has helped me to dig deeply into the intricate and intimate aspects of rebranding a company worldwide and learn how a design system can scale to accomplish business objectives. Each project brought unique challenges and pushed me to refine my design knowledge and front-end development skillset.
2018 Pre Rebrand
My first year at MasterControl involved learning about the business offerings, which are plentiful, complex, and full of industry-specific terminology and processes. I was onboarded to the company and able to work on several projects leading up to the challenge of rebranding the company in Q4.
2019 Rebranding MasterControl
MasterControl’s marketing team launched a dramatically new brand in May of 2019 that included a complete overhaul of the entire website, which generates over 90% of all sales leads for the $68+ million dollar company. As one of two web designers, I played a key role in translating the new brand styles to our digital interfaces and assisted in leading the development and implementation of MasterControl’s custom marketing design system. After launching my role then shifted to optimization and refinement through new features and deep code refactoring.
2020–2021 COVID-19 and Work From Home
Nearly a year after launching the new brand, the coronavirus pandemic caused our team to migrate all operations to full-time remote work. Using digital communication tools and a git-based process we were able to continue to grow the business and provide good experiences for our customers through new features, digital events, and refined content delivery.
